How It Started: Resale as a Side Hustle

In mid-2023, I dipped into resale as a way to earn extra income for my family. At the time, I was working full-time as a project manager at a water-restoration company in Detroit and began flipping electronics on eBay. The money came in, but it was uninspiring. I wanted something that connected with passion—not just profit.

That passion was always fashion. The thrill of hunting rare pieces, digging through collections, and learning the history behind brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior, and Balenciaga was different. It wasn’t just shopping—it was discovery.

The Question That Changed Everything

As I spent more time in the resale world, one question kept circling my mind: what happens to all the luxury pieces that don’t make it to the boutique floor?

- Overstock that never sells.

- Showroom samples and runway pieces.

- Shopworn display items.

- Irregulars with a crooked stitch or slightly dented packaging.

Most customers don’t realize that many luxury houses destroy unsold stock to protect exclusivity. Perfectly good items are scrapped, burned, or funneled into secret channels. The goal is to maintain the illusion of rarity, but the waste is staggering.

Creating a Different Kind of Plug

That realization pushed me to create something different. I wanted to take those pieces—overstock, samples, showroom items—and get them into the hands of people who actually love the culture. Why should quality fashion only be for the 1% who can drop $2,000 on a T-shirt?

That’s how UndergroundDesignerPlug was born. And today, after rebranding, it’s evolved into DSGNRSPLY™—a platform built to bring authenticity, value, and streetwear culture together.

The Struggles Along the Way

Growth hasn’t been without setbacks. At one point, eBay shut us down despite our 98.4% rating and verified invoices, costing us thousands. But instead of quitting, we doubled down—forming new vendor relationships, building logistics hubs, and reinvesting through Shopify Capital.

Now, we’re sourcing globally—from Detroit to Japan to France—and building faster pipelines to get products into your hands with quality control at every step.

Our Philosophy: Authenticity Without Gatekeeping

Every piece we sell meets strict quality checks. Some items are showroom samples, some have minor packaging flaws, and some are overstock from designer collections. What they all share is authenticity, style, and value.

We stand on a simple belief: no business should profit unfairly at the expense of its customers. That’s why we keep pricing fair, margins honest, and quality high.
